Schaeffler announces repair kit of electric axle drives

The automotive supplier Schaeffler has developed a repair kit for electric axle drives. According to the company, the ‘Schaeffler E-Axle RepSystem – G’ is currently the only repair solution that enables workshops to repair electric axle transmissions instead of replacing them completely.

The repair kit for electric axle drives is to be presented at Automechanika Frankfurt from 13 to 17 September 2022, where it will be demonstrated using a VW e-Golf as an example. It is not clear from the press release when the kit is to be launched on the market.

At its stand in the Agora open-air space, the Herzogenaurach-based company plans to exhibit the 800-volt e-axle alongside vehicle components such as the latest TriFinity wheel bearings or the iRWS rear-axle steering system. “They will all be relevant for workshops sooner or later – and Schaeffler will provide the independent aftermarket with appropriate repair solutions in good time,” says the company.

Schaeffler does not yet provide further details on the repair solution in the statement, but only states in general terms that it is well prepared for the growing repair needs of hybrid and electric vehicles. “Schaeffler is well prepared for the increasing repair needs of hybrid and electric vehicles and has always brought new technologies and expertise from original equipment into the independent aftermarket. Staying true to this approach is particularly evident this year – and finally again in personal contact,” says Jens Schüler, CEO Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket.
