Skoda adds RS model to Enyaq lineup

Skoda has expanded the Enyaq lineup with the addition of the top-of-the-range RS iV. Like its coupé sister model, the Enyaq RS iV also offers an electric drive with two motors, an all-wheel drive and 220 kW system output.

While the Enyaq Coupé was also presented as an RS model with the most powerful MEB drive directly at its unveiling at the end of January 2022, the Enyaq was previously only available with the 195 kW all-wheel drive version. The all-wheel-drive models are identical in terms of the battery, which has a usable energy content of 77 kWh. However, the all-wheel-drive models use cells from a different supplier than the battery of the 150 kW rear-wheel-drive model, which also has a capacity of 77 kWh – the charging process from ten to 80 per cent takes a little longer in the all-wheel-drive models. With a maximum of 135 kW, the standard charging process takes 36 minutes.

With its 220 kW of system power and 460 Nm of torque, the Enyaq RS iV should be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. As with the coupé, the top speed of 180 km/h is exactly 20 km/h higher than the other MEB models. Despite this performance, “more than 500 kilometres” are said to be possible in the WLTP cycle. In addition, the Enyaq RS iV has a standard sports suspension and comes with 20-inch wheels – 21-inches are optional.

Like all Enyaq models, the new RS offshoot will be built in Mlada Boleslav. According to Skoda, the 100,000th example of the Enyaq range is due to roll off the production line “in the coming days”. However, it is also clear that demand has been significantly greater than available production capacity for months – so much so that there have already been reports that the Enyaq will be sold out by 2024. When and in what numbers the Enyaq RS iV will arrive – and at what price – is still open.

Update 19 January 2023

Following the above launch, Volkswagen’s Skoda brand has now priced the latest arrival in UK show rooms. The Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV vRS is priced from £54,370 (€62,139) OTR. Financing is available from £580.60 per month.
