French aeronautic consortium to install chargers for electric aircraft

TotalEnergies, Groupe ADP and the Fédération Française Aéronautique (FFA) have agreed to install charging stations for electric aircraft at three airfields in the Ile-de-France region. The partnership includes the first phase of installation of four charging stations in spring 2023.

These are to be installed at the Toussus-le-Noble, Etampes and Pontoise airfields managed by Groupe ADP. Operated by TotalEnergies, these “self-service” stations will allow e-aircraft to be charged on site within one hour, according to a statement. Apart from the indication of the charging time, there are no further details on the power or technology of the charging stations.

Representatives of the consortium partners state that the charging terminals are intended to enable the operation of electric aircraft. For the time being, the focus is on light aircraft. Specifically mentioned is the Slovenian company Pipistrel, which is the only manufacturer to offer a certified electric light aircraft.
