Electrogenic presents electric conversion kit for the Mini
British EV conversion specialist Electrogenic has revealed a ‘plug and play’ solution to easily electrify the classic Mini. Electrogenic’s Mini EV conversion kit has a target price of £15,000 + VAT and can be fitted by any qualified mechanic.
The Mini conversation kit will be offered via Electrogenic’s global network of installer partners from autumn 2023 and offers ranges up to 80 miles “in normal city driving”. An extended range version will also follow later, according to the company. In other technical specs, the drive is capable of delivering up to 1,000 Nm torque on the 60 bhp drive system, powered by a 20 kWh battery pack. Charging can be done via a Euro Type 2 port installed in the front grille. The extended range variant will feature an additional battery, however, the manufacturer has not stated how powerful the option will be or what kind of range can be expected.
The kit also really shines in the fact that it is easy to install: “Fitting can be carried out by any qualified mechanic. The package is sold as a pre-tested, fully assembled kit – entirely incorporated into a replacement front-subframe,” the company writes. This only leaves the installer to bolt in the new subframe assembly and wire it up to the throttle and dashboard.
Electrogenic is known for previous electric conversion kits for popular classic cars, including the Land Rover Defender, Porsche 911 and the Jaguar E-type.
