Electrovaya presents new high-voltage battery system

The Canadian battery manufacturer Electrovaya has expanded its Infinity product line with the launch of its ‘Infinity-HV’ battery systems. The system works for heavy-duty, high-voltage vehicles and will begin initial pre-production deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Electrovaya writes that the Infinity-HV systems are designed to target heavy-duty, high-voltage applications such as buses, delivery trucks, construction trucks, hybrid-fuel cell/battery systems or even stationary energy storage systems. The new Infinity-HV systems come in two variations with the HV-90 and HV-180. The two systems offer a nominal energy of 35 kWh and 70 kWh, respectively, and are to serve as both 400V and 800V applications.

According to the company, the battery systems use “lithium-ion ceramic and UL-recognized EV series cells and have a projected 25-year lifetime for one-cycle/day applications”. This makes them the longest lasting high-voltage batteries currently available. Electrovaya also writes of an excellent safety design criterion, using the company’s “proprietary multi-level cell and battery fire propagation prevention technology”.

“We are excited to launch the Infinity-HV battery products and look forward to exploring the market opportunities. The Infinity-HV batteries offer unique performance characteristics, particularly with regards to safety and cycle life, and are the ideal energy storage technology for heavy-duty applications,” said Dr. Khadija Yazda, High Voltage Systems Product Manager at Electrovaya.
