American adventurer to round the globe in an electric car

The adventurer Lexie Alford started her round-the-world trip in the all-electric Ford Explorer in Nice, France. The US-American is the youngest person to have travelled to every country on Earth. Her new challenge will take Alford to more than 30 countries on six continents.

With the ‘Charge Around The Globe’, she wants to show what is possible today in terms of range and charging infrastructure with an all-electric car. At the same time, she hopes to be the first person to circumnavigate the globe in purely electric mode.

In order to claim the record, Lexie Alford must meet strict requirements. For instance, the distance must be at least 28,968 kilometres and pass through two antipodal points, meaning places that are exactly opposite each other on the globe. At the same time, the journey must end where it began. Employees of the RecordSetter organisation will record the correct course of the record attempt at various locations around the world.
