Swobbee becomes battery swapping partner for TotalEnergies

Swobbee, a battery-swapping startup based in Berlin, will become TotalEnergies' exclusive charging infrastructure partner for light electric vehicles (LEVs). The framework agreement provides for close cooperation in the development of charging infrastructure for LEVs, such as electric cargo bikes.

Following the conclusion of the framework agreement, the first Swobbee station was commissioned at the TotalEnergies filling station in Berlin-Tempelhof. Due to its proximity to the Südkreuz railway station, the Swobbee station is conveniently located for logistics providers and delivery drivers.

The partners are now taking the next step and are gradually setting up Swobee’s battery exchange stations at TotalEnergies filling stations in major cities in Germany. However, so far, only Hamburg is mentioned explicitly as a further city.

LEVs can swap their empty batteries (if compatible) for full ones in a matter of seconds at the filling stations. The empty batteries are then recharged at the station for the next customers. The station itself is also equipped with a large advertising display to provide so-called cross-marketing opportunities for petrol station operators.

“We are delighted not only to continue our good cooperation with TotalEnergies, but also to expand it in the future. Filling stations are established hubs of mobility that have attractive, conveniently located spaces in densely built-up cities – ideal conditions to also become the energy hub of the future,” says Thomas Duscha, CEO and co-founder of Swobbee. “The integration of charging infrastructure for light electric vehicles takes into account the differentiation of mobility that is currently in full swing.”
