Specifically, the first season of the new racing series will make its debut in Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on 2 and 3 February 2024. All E1 events will be held near the coast, so that the races can be followed locally from the countryside. This was already known in advance. The same goes for the fact that the events will each take place over two days with practice sessions, qualifying and knockout races, and that the pilots will compete against each other in several heats. The fastest teams and pilots will reach the final to determine the winner.

In a recent announcement, the initiators give further details. In the first season, up to ten mixed-gender teams (one female and one male pilot) will compete against each other in visually uniform “RaceBird” motorboats and fight for the E1 title “Champions Of The Water”. Prominent personalities such as Rafael Nadal, Tom Brady, Steve Aoki, Didier Drogba, Virat Kohli and Sergio Perez are already confirmed as team captains. Details on ticket sales are to be released shortly.

“We are thrilled to get the first dates in our fans’ calendars as the first-ever E1 Grand Prix is about to arrive. We know that audiences around the world will love our unique racing in stunning locations, as we make a positive impact on our race locations with our all-electric race fleet,” expresses Rodi Basso, CEO and co-founder of the E1 racing series.

Originally, the e-boat racing series was to be initiated as early as the beginning of 2023. The start has therefore been postponed by about a year.
