Subaru to offer Tesla NACS ports in several new electric cars

Subaru will also install Tesla's charging port in new electric models in North America from 2025. Owners of Subaru BEVs with a CCS socket will also have access to Tesla's Supercharger network from 2025 via adapter.

Subaru plans to equip “certain BEVs” to be launched in North America from 2025 onwards with the North American Charging Standard (NACS). The company then plans to “continue to advance NACS adoption for its subsequent BEVs to be launched thereafter,” according to the automaker’s brief press release.

Drivers with CCS will receive an adapter to access Tesla’s Supercharger network from 2025.

Subaru thus follows several carmakers that have announced similar collaborations with Tesla in recent months. One subtle difference: as with Toyota, the NACS connections are to be integrated into “certain” electric cars. Other companies want to equip all their electric cars in North America with the Tesla charging port by 2025.

Subaru has only one all-electric model on the market, the Solterra e-SUV. It is based on Toyota’s eTNGA platform. Toyota also declared a few days ago that it would rely on Tesla’s fast charging system in North America from 2025. Subaru had revised its electric car targets upwards in August and announced seven new BEVs – three of them by the end of 2026 and four more by the end of 2028.
