NXT 50five is a joint venture between 50five and NXT Mobility. The company was awarded the contract in a tender organised by the Metropolitan Region Amsterdam – Electric (MRA-E). Around three-quarters of the 74 municipalities in the north-west region had teamed up for this.

Specifically, the fast chargers are to be installed in the Dutch provinces of Noord-Holland, Utrecht and Flevoland. The company does not provide any information on the number of charging points per location.

According to ADS-TEC Energy, “the majority of the MRA-E area faces network congestion.” As ADS-TEC’s fast-charging solutions are battery-buffered, they are particularly suitable for this region “because, unlike conventional fast-charging stations, they address many more locations and can be connected anywhere without much effort,” says the company.

The storage-based ChargePost is a charging station with up to 300 kW. ADS-TEC has been accepting orders for the device since December 2022. The rectangular charging system, measuring 1.3 x 1.5 x 2.4 metres, has two HPC connections, between 144 and 201 kWh battery capacity and up to two 75-inch advertising displays across the entire height of the outer surface.

“Winning this tender highlights the appeal of our products,” says Thomas Speidel, CEO of ADS-TEC Energy. “Our technology allows rapid charging infrastructure to be rolled out much faster. We’re delighted with the positive synergies resulting from this joint venture. Together, we’re accelerating our vision and commitment to a sustainable mobility transition.”

NXT 50five is one of three parties that have been awarded the concession. Shell and TotalEnergies will also be expanding their fast-charging infrastructure in the region. According to ADS-TEC, NXT 50five has already started implementation and is already installing the first nine sites. There are no concrete details for the time being.
