Lado Taxi orders another 2,500 VinFast electric cars

In Vietnam, Lado Taxi has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to purchase and rent an additional 2,500 VinFast electric cars from Green and Smart Moving JSC (GSM) within three years.

Under the agreement with Lado Taxi, the subsidiary of Vietnamese private conglomerate Vingroup, GSM, will hand over 500 vehicles this year. The delivery of this order will bring Lado’s electric taxi fleet to nearly 1,000 electric cars. The remaining 2,000 vehicles should be delivered in 2025 and 2026.

Lado Taxi is an app-based, on-demand taxi service provider that was founded in 2013. The taxi service operates as a public taxi service but also in business-to-business sectors. The new electric taxis will operate in Lam Dong, Binh Dinh, Binh Thuan, and Dong Nai provinces. As of May 2022, Lado operated a fleet of 75 VF e34s at Lien Khuong Airport in Lam Dong province Lam Dong and Binh Dinh provinces. Before the arrival of the new VinFast vehicles now on order, the taxi service currently runs an electric fleet of 400 vehicles.

 GSM was founded in early 2023 by Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong to promote green mobility by using VinFast electric cars and scooters for rental services for traditional and online taxi service providers and their employees. The company only uses VinFast vehicles and started its offerings with a fleet of about 10,000 electric cars and 100,000 electric scooters. GSM also started its own all-electric taxi service in Vietnam, the first in the country.

According to the English-language publication Vietnam, GSM sold and rented VinFast vehicles to nearly 30 businesses to provide transportation services.
