The British public transport operator First Bus is opening the first publically accessible bus charging depot in the UK. This will allow locals to access one of the eight rapid charging stations on the lot, which can charge up to 150 kW. The depot will be open from 6 am until 10 pm every day of the week.

Prices are to be set at 69 p/kWh and can be paid via a contactless credit card, without the need for signing up for a service or installing an app.

“Opening the Summercourt hub is a hugely exciting step forward in our decarbonisation journey. For local people, visitors and business, the new hub ensures EV drivers can charge their vehicles on a reliable connection at a fair price,” said Simon Goff, First Bus South’s Managing Director, adding: “We’re the first bus operator to offer consumer charging and I’m proud that we’re able to support the local community with this vital infrastructure that will make a difference for many years to come.”
