The Mazda EZ-6 has gone on pre-sale in China. As announced, there are battery-electric and range-extended versions available. However, the pricing is not clear yet.

There are three BEV and four EREV versions in total. According to the carmaker, these will cost between 160,000 and 200,00 yuan, which is roughly between 20.400 and 25,500 euros. Apparently, Mazda does not get more specific than that.

With the pre-sale kick-off, there is some technical data available. The battery-electric versions of the Mazda EZ-6 have a 190 kW electric motor powering the rear axle. Customers can choose two LFP battery packs with an energy content of 56.1 kWh or 68.8 kWh. These allow for ranges of up to 480 km or 600 km, respectively.

The EREV version has a 160 kW electric motor. Depending on the battery pack, it has an all-electric range of 130 to 200 kilometres. With the added 1.5-litre engine, the range increases to 1,301 kilometres.

Before the pre-sale, the EZ-6 has been compared to the Deepal SL03, as both are based on Changan’s EPA1 architecture. The latter has a 163 kW electric motor and an LFP battery from CATL, which enables a range of 700 kilometres in the Chinese CLTC standard test. However, at 4.92 metres, the Mazda counterpart is around ten centimetres longer than the Deepal, while the width (1.89 metres) and height (1.49 metres) are the same.

The car was first presented at the Auto China in Beijing in April. In August, the company also announced that it would offer the EZ-6 in Europe starting in autumn. The car was developed together with Changan and will be produced in China, not Japan.
