The shared fast-charging stalls are spread across 390 locations in 45 major cities in 32 U.S. states. The locations include grocery shops, retail centres and city centres and are primarily aimed at electric car drivers who cannot charge at home or at work.

The opening of the 2,000th charging stall is an important step in both partners’ endeavours to install a total of 2,850 DC fast-chargers across the country. This also includes 400 public fast-charging stalls in covered flagship charging parks that GM and EVgo have been planning since last year in major metropolises in states such as Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York and Texas.

The 2,000th charging stall was inaugurated by EVgo and GM and is located in Murrieta near Los Angeles. The site there offers five 350 kW fast chargers that can supply up to ten vehicles simultaneously. The charging stalls is conveniently located on the Interstate 215.

“EVgo’s longstanding collaboration with GM has helped us bring public charging to communities in more than 30 states across the U.S., and as we work to deploy our first flagship destinations next year, we are thrilled to celebrate today’s milestone of reaching 2,000 fast charging stalls built through this program,” said EVgo President Dennis Kish. “Working with trusted automakers like GM has accelerated the buildout of our nationwide network, inspiring range confidence for today’s EV drivers and the drivers we will welcome to the EVgo network in the years the come.”

“Our collaboration with EVgo underscores our dedication to providing EV drivers with the best possible experience by expanding fast charging infrastructure across the country,” said Wade Sheffer, vice president, GM Energy. “We look forward to continuing to offer premium charging experiences for years to come.”

The two partners began their cooperation back in 2020, announcing that they would focus on metropolitan areas. A partnership with a charging station operator was added later.
