Zunder opens Spain’s largest fast-charging park

Charging infrastructure operator Zunder has opened the largest HPC site in Spain to date. The high-power charging site is located in Oviedo in the north of the country and comprises 36 HPC connections. Twelve of these have an output of up to 400 kW, and 24 with up to 160 kW.

The fast-charging park is located at the Parque Principado shopping centre in Oviedo, close to the A-66 and A-64 highways. The company says the charging park reaffirms its leading position in Spain, emphasising that the further expansion of its network of charging stations enables electric vehicle connectivity between the main routes in Spain.

The location of Parque Principado is an advantageous strategic point, as several important traffic routes in the area converge here. Drivers of electric vehicles are therefore able to easily access charging travelling several different routes.

This, in turn, is likely to benefit the shopping centre with increased custom since the charging park is directly adjacent to it. Electric car drivers can take advantage of the Parque Principado shopping facilities, cafés, restaurants, toilets, entertainment areas, cinemas and countless services.

The Zunder charging park offers 36 ultra-fast charging points. Twelve of them offer an output of up to 400 kW, while 24 operate with an output of up to 160 kW. All charging points offer the Plug&Charge functionality, which allows the car to start charging automatically when it is connected to the charging station with the charging cable. In addition, all charging stations offer credit card terminals for ad hoc payments.

Zunder plans to expand massively over the next few years. Following the entry of French investor Mirova two years ago, Zunder secured a loan package of 225 million euros from Banco Santander this year. Zunder intends to use this to open 3,000 charging points in France, Italy and Portugal.
