Catalonia introduces carbon tax for polluting vehicles

The Catalan regional government is about to introduce a carbon tax on cars, vans and motorcycles. Catalonia will thus be the first region in Spain to ask owners of climate-harming vehicles to pay. Taxation is to come in retroactively for 2019 already.

Ionity launches first Scottish HPC parks

Ionity is pushing ahead with the expansion of its high power chargers (HPC) with new locations. In Gretna Green, Scotland, the first of six planned Ionity sites in the country has now been connected to the grid. Construction of new Ionity charging sites is also progressing in the rest of Europe.

Alstom develops conductive charging for electric buses

Alstom shows a ground-based recharging system for electric buses, further development of its SRS system for trams. The prototype now presented in the Spanish city of Málaga is equipped with a 200 kW charger that charges a twelve-metre electric bus from Linkker.

Public transport operator Keolis has commissioned an electric bus line in the southwest of France where ten Irizar electric articulated buses will be put into operation. The twelve-kilometre line with 30 stations connects Bayonne with Biarritz.

Irizar to deliver electric buses to Germany

The Spanish electric bus manufacturer Irizar has received new orders from Germany and Switzerland. A contract has been signed with Rheinbahn in Düsseldorf, Germany, for the delivery of ten electric buses. Irizar has also been awarded the contract to supply the electric bus system for the Swiss city of Schaffhausen.

Last year Solaris delivered 107 electric buses to customers across Europe. According to the Polish-Spanish bus manufacturer, it held a market share of 17% of all electric bus sales in Europe in 2018, the overview shows.
