Hertz offers 45 EVs on Mallorca
The Hertz car rental agency has added to their “Green Collection” on Mallorca, expanding their EV fleet based at the airport to a total of 45 EVs. Another expansion is set to follow in the coming months.
Ionity cooperating with Cepsa to outfit gas stations
The high power charging network Ionity will cooperate with the Spanish Compañía Española de Petróleos to outfit their petrol stations with up to 100 HPC charging points in Spain and Portugal. The first chargers will go into operation by the start of 2019.
BYD receives third large order from Spain
Business is taking off for BYD now also in Southern Europe where the bus builder received its third order from Spain. The city of Badajoz has ordered 15 all-electric buses. Deliveries are scheduled in spring 2019.
Spanish CAF to take over bus maker Solaris
Spain’s railway company CAF wants to take over Polish bus maker Solaris. For CAF this means broadening their portfolio particularly in e-mobility while Solaris has been looking for investment. Projections suggests a price of over 300 million euros with approval expected by September 2018.
Frisco’s Scoot Networks coming to Europe
Scoot Networks, the electric scooter sharing company from San Francisco, has just set up its European HQ in Barcelona. Catalonia’s capital now also got about 1,500 electric two-wheelers to share at their disposal and Scoot plans to take shared mobility further.
Irizar to make electric utility vehicles in Spain
It is Europe’s first “emobility plant” said Irizar at the inauguration of their new facility in Aduna, Spain. On a floor area of 18,000 sqm they want to build electric buses and other commercial vehicles en masse in order to keep up with demand.
Spain orders electric buses from BYD
Chinese mega maker BYD says it has received a new order from Spain, where the town of Badalona close to Barcelona is expecting the arrival of 8 electric buses. It is the second order from Spain for BYD as Southern Europe is opening up.
Spanish mail service testing electric cargo trikes
The Spanish mail service Correos is currently testing three-wheeled cargo bikes from Bikelecing (BKL), which are equipped with 48 V systems by Continental. The cargo pedelecs will be used for an initial three month period in Madrid, Sevilla, Málaga, Cordoba and Granada.
ABB to provide 200 EV fast chargers to Philippines
ABB has received an order for 200 DC fast charging stations type Terra 53 from the Filipino company QEV. The delivery will take place over the next three years as a part of the infrastructure development for electric mobility in the Philippines.
Seat takes over ride-share provider Respiro
Seat has acquired the Spanish ride-share startup Respiro, which is currently operating in Madrid with about 200 vehicles, including electric and hybrid ones. The plan is to expand the ride-share company to further major cities in the coming years.
Balearic Islands to become EV oasis
The Balearic government has announced plans to ban vehicles that run on fossil fuels from the streets of Mallorca, as well as from those on the other Balearic Islands by 2035. A diesel-ban is to start even sooner, by 2025.
Torrot launches electric trail bike Movak
Torrot is working on an all-electric motorbike. The Movak performs at 5 kW with a battery that lasts for 120 km riding both on the trail and on the road. The firm is accepting pre-orders for a deposit of 600 euros, less than a tenth of the estimated price of 7,900 euros.

Coup in Spain – Bosch electric scooters to hit Madrid
Bosch’s electric scooter sharing Coup is coming to Spain this summer, when Madrid will witness the launch of the Gogoro scooters. For Bosch it is the third European capital where the firm deploys the electric two-wheelers and the fleet is to grow to 3,500 LEVs this year.

Spain earmarks 35 million euros for electric mobility through the 2017 Movalt Plan that has finally been approved in Madrid. 20 millions are reserved to subsidise PHEV with new rules to apply for the first time.

Exactly 5,342 all-electric vehicles have been newly registered in Spain within the first 9 months of the year. That are 62.7 percent more than in the same period of 2016. A total of 958 EVs in September even represents a plus of 180 percent towards September 2016.

EU plans plug-in opportunities: European energy ministers agree, new and newly refurbished buildings must feature EV charging stations from 2025. If the FAZ report is accurate, the ministers mostly followed the EU commission’s previous proposal that called for residential buildings with more than ten parking stalls to at least put in place the necessary wiring for EV chargers. Parking in commercial buildings must offer one charging opportunity and put wires at every third spot although small enterprises might be exempt from that rule. However, for the draft to become law, both the EU Parliament as well as the Council of Ministers must consent first.

E-mobility receives a “si¡” in Spain, where the government decided to continue its Movea funding scheme. Another 14.26m euros have been earmarked for EV incentives such as 5,500 euros per electric car given it got a list price below 32,000 euros. Charging infrastructure is facilitated with 1,000 euros when installing an AC charger and 15,000 euros can be claimed for each fast-charging station.

Indo-Korean EV cooperation: Korean SsangYong Motor is working on an electric SUV with its Indian owner Mahindra. Together they aim for 300 km range and a launch by 2020. It will be the first fruit of the recently announced partnership in which both vied to spend 1bn dollars for joint EV development.
Zotye EV label: Chinese Zotye has created a brand likely dedicated to its electric offering. Junma, officially Chongqing Junma New Energy Vehicle Company suggests a focus on electric and plug-in hybrids made in Chongqing but no more details have been published so far.

So the start-up decided to file for an IPO and hopes to find 9.3m dollars at the stock market to finalise and ultimately produce the electric three-wheeler.
