Polestar expands charging network in Germany and the UK

Polestar has added 2,754 charging points to its Polestar Charge subscription offer in the UK. As mentioned above, across its active European markets, that takes the total charging points included in the discounted offer to more than 62,000 across 41 charge operators. In addition, the standard Polestar Charge offer now gives direct access to over 900,000 individual charging points.

As Polestar writes, the 89% increase in charging points in the UK will now enable subscribers to take advantage of 30% discounted charging at 5,854 charging points locally. Six charging providers are included in the subscription, including Ionity, Sainbury’s, Instavolt, MFG, Fastned and Applegreen.

“Our convenient Polestar Charge now provides Polestar drivers in the UK greater coverage across the country and a more personalised offering,” explained Matt Galvin, Managing Director of Polestar UK, adding: “With networks like IONITY, Sainsburys and Instavolt included in the 30% saving, we now offer 5,854 charging points in one app, meaning charging on the go is easier and more affordable than ever.”

In another European market, Polestar has added 1,439 charging points to its Polestar Charge offer in Germany. With the current expansion, there are now 8,396 charging points from six providers in Germany: Ionity, Allego, Fastned, TotalEnergies, Aral Pulse and Shell. Polestar Charge users receive a 30 per cent discount at these charging points. However, Polestar does not specify which 1,439 charging points have now been added. However, in order to receive the 30 per cent discount, an optional subscription for 13.99 euros per month is required.

Around a year ago, the car manufacturer launched the new charging service together with Plugsurfing – with 650,000 charging points at the time. Polestar Charge is not only a convenient service for Polestar customers to gain access to the charging points of many operators via one offer. The Polestar Charge network can also be stored as a filter in the vehicle’s navigation system so that only those charging points that can be accessed via Polestar Charge are included in the route planning. However, manual filters can also be set up for your own charging cards or preferred operators.
