Polestar and Plugsurfing launch new charging service in Europe

Polestar has launched the new charging service Polestar Charge together with Plugsurfing in Europe. It gives the manufacturer's customers access to over 650,000 public charging points, including approved Tesla Superchargers.

Since 2020, Polestar has offered its Polestar 2 customers access to the Plugsurfing network, offering special discounts. Shortly before the deliveries of the two new electric models, the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4, in Europe, both companies are launching a new charging service.

Polestar customers thus have access to 650,000 public charging points, start charging processes, and pay for them. Particularly interesting: Polestar integrated Tesla’s Supercharger network in Europe into its own charging app, giving it access to all Superchargers open to other brands. However, the charging service must be stored as a means of payment in the Tesla app. Charging points from EnBW, Aral pulse, Ionity, Recharge, Fastned, Total, Allego and many more can also be activated via Polestar Charge.

Neither Polestar nor Plugsurfing provided details on prices for AC or DC charging. However, the app will display these for the respective charging point. With an optional subscription of €13.99 per month, it will also be possible to get a 30 per cent discount on the standard prices displayed in the Polestar Charge app. The subscription is currently available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Spain.

“We know an important part of owning an electric car is being able to charge conveniently. With access to the largest networks in Europe and smart integration in Google Maps, we have made it easy for Polestar drivers to enjoy life with an electric car rather than worrying about where they will find their next charge,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

As mentioned above, Polestar is the first electric car manufacturer in Europe to integrate Tesla’s Supercharger network. The two manufacturers also cooperate in China. Authorised Superchargers and Destination Chargers in mainland China can be searched for and activated via the Polestar app. Polestar had also previously announced that it would offer the Tesla charging port (NACS) in its electric cars for the North American market starting in 2025.
