CLPe, Zoomlion & Sanroc sign truck partnership in Hong Kong
CLPe has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology, and Sanroc International, planning to introduce Hong Kong’s first five-axis electric heavy crane truck. Additionally, the partners will provide one-stop battery leasing, charging, swapping, and maintenance service for electric heavy trucks, which they claim will help promote green transport and support the Hong Kong government’s plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
In the first step, the companies will introduce approximately 80 units of the five-axle electric heavy crane trucks in Hong Kong. Next, the “three parties will pool their expertise in energy management, construction machinery, as well as logistics and transport to explore the construction of battery charging and swapping station for electric heavy trucks in Hong Kong,” as well as setting up the above-mentioned one-stop battery leasing and maintenance services. The full service ecosystem is expected to be available in the second half of this year.
In terms of technical specifications, the 38-tonne and five-axis electric trucks, which will be used mainly for transport and construction, feature a range of around 250 km, and can be charge to 70 per cent within an hour. The battery swapping process is said to take about 15 minutes.
“CLPe is committed to promoting the popularisation of electric vehicles. Currently, we provide charging services for electric private cars and commercial vehicles in Hong Kong and the Mainland. This collaboration further expands our charging business to electric heavy trucks, marking a significant milestone for Hong Kong in promoting electric transportation and accelerating the development of green construction,” said CLPe Managing Director Mr Ringo Ng, adding: “We are delighted to collaborate with a leading Mainland enterprise, Zoomlion, and a Hong Kong-based company, Sanroc, to introduce new productive forces in green transportation from the Mainland, contributing to Hong Kong’s green transformation.”
