Jacky Perrenot takes delivery of first MAN eTGX in France
Following the official order from March 2024, MAN delivered its first eTGX electric truck to the logistics company Jacky Perrenot in France. The initial order was for 40 trucks, with the option to extend the contract for another 60 units. The order includes 35 tractor units and five chassis to be precise.
The first tractor unit has now been handed over at the MAN Service Centre in Lyon. According to MAN, this is a truck from the first pre-series of 200 vehicles that the manufacturer had already produced in 2024. The actual large-scale production is scheduled to start this year at the Munich plant.
With regard to the pre-series of 200 units, MAN wrote: “Across Europe, the majority of these vehicles have already been successfully operating since the beginning of the year, with logistics providers in countries including Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands.” The eTrucks pre-series already covered a total of around 800,000 kilometre ‘despite often wintry conditions – and have demonstrated a low average energy consumption of just 104 kWh per 100 kilometres,’ the company added.
Now, the first eTruck is also on the road in France for Jacky Perrenot. The group is a haulage specialist founded in 2012 and based in Saint-Donat-sur-l’Herbasse in the French department of Drôme. It claims to be the market leader in the transport and logistics sector in France with a turnover of more than one billion euros in 2023. The group claims to employ 10,000 people in 145 European branches. At the end of 2023, the logistics company announced its intention to procure 168 electric trucks and 90 truck charging stations. By 2025, the fleet is expected to include 250 electric vehicles. It was not specified at the time which specific models the company would be using. It was considered likely that Renault Trucks, among others, would be used, as there is a partnership between the two companies.
MAN significantly increased the range of variants for the eTruck model last year: In April 2024, the manufacturer added new 4×2 and 6×2 chassis and the number of configurable variants from three previously defined customer combinations to ‘over a million.’
The order from Jacky Perrenot is special for MAN in that it was the largest single order for the MAN eTruck to date when the order was received in April 2024. Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, also attended the initial handover in person: “Our first eTruck in France is going to one of the country’s leading distribution companies,” he said in Lyon. “We are very pleased with the trust placed in MAN and proud to be contributing to the sustainable decarbonisation of freight transport on France’s roads.”
MAN is launching the eTruck on the market in the eTGX and eTGS versions. The differences between the eTGX and eTGS correspond to the familiar diesel models, for example, the wider cab of the TGX. However, both models are based on the same modular system. With a maximum battery configuration, they have a range of around 500 kilometres and standard CCS charging technology (up to 375 kW), which is to be supplemented by the new MCS standard (initially with up to 750 kW and later up to 1 MW).
