Circontrol presents new HPC with 400 kW

The Spanish charging station manufacturer Circontrol just presented its new Sonic One HPC station for electric cars with up to 400 kW power, as well as the further developments of its best-selling AC solutions, at Power2Drive conference in Munich, Germany.

The Sonic One electric car charging station delivers an output of 320 to 400 kW and can charge a vehicle with 500 amps in boost mode, regardless of its voltage. The available power can be distributed between the two charging points of a column. The two charging points have cable management, and the 32-inch touchscreen can be used to display advertising from third parties, as well as for operation.

According to Circontrol, the Sonic One should be able to cover as many requirements and applications of charging point operators as possible. It should be characterised in particular by its robustness against intensive use in heavily frequented areas, the company says. The charging processes can be started using several authentication methods. Circontrol uses Autocharge, a contactless payment terminal, RFID cards, mobile apps, QR codes and even an unspecified keypad.

The two variants, Sonic One 320 and Sonic One 400, each offer the maximum charging power that gives them their name, and there are also minimal differences in the connected load, according to the technical data sheet linked at the end of this article. The column covers the voltage range from 150 to 920 volts and operates at maximum power with an efficiency of over 96 per cent, according to the company.

In addition to the new Sonic One, Circontrol also exhibited revised AC products at Power2Drive. The new versions of the eVolve Smart and eNext Park now have a new screen for dynamic QR codes to comply with AFIR standards. The eVolve Smart, as a free-standing AC charging station, now has a seven-inch screen, but no touchscreen. It is operated via two buttons or the RFID reader. The system can now coordinate the power of up to six connected eVolve Smart via load management. The eNext Park is a charging station for wall mounting and offers up to 22 kW per connection and a five-inch colour screen.

The company is also presenting its recently received German calibration law certification for its DC charging stations in the Raption series. These are the Raption Compact 80, 160 and 240. The calibration certificate enables Circontrol to expand its range in Germany, which the company cites as an important market.
