Ola Electric has listed the Roadster in four variants: Roadster X, Roadster X+, Roadster, and Roadster Pro. The company offers them in several sub-variants, each with different performance and range, and today, it has started sales of the X and X+ variants.

The Roadster X series has a mid-drive motor that drives the rear wheel via a chain and includes an integrated MCU. Ola Electric uses industry-first flat cables in these electric motorcycles, which enable tighter packaging, reduced weight, and improved thermal performance.

Ola Electric gives customers 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh battery options for the Roadster X and 4.5 kWh and 9.1 kWh battery options for the Roadster X+. The company uses 4680 cells in the 9.1 kWh battery and possibly 2170 cells in the 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh batteries. The cells of all the batteries likely feature NMC chemistry for better energy density, compared to LFP.

The Roadster X accelerates from 0 to 40 kph as quickly as 3.1 seconds and delivers a range of up to 252 km. The Roadster X+ does it even quicker—in 2.7 seconds—and travels up to 501 km on a full charge. The table below provides a detailed breakdown of the technical aspects of both variants:

Both Roadster X and Roadster X+ have a 4.3-inch LCD instrument cluster with smart connectivity features and a USB port. They also feature front ABS, but while the Roadster X uses drum brakes at both ends, the Roadster X+ enhances safety with a combination of a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Additionally, the higher-end variant gives more convenience with cruise control and a reverse mode.

Ola Electric sells the Roadster X for 99,999 rupees, 109,999 rupees, and 124,999 rupees with the 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh batteries, respectively. It offers the Roadster X+ at 129,999 rupees with the 4.5 kWh battery and at 199,999 rupees with the 9.1 kWh battery.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and MD, Ola Electric, has high hopes for the company’s electric motorcycles: “Scooters were just the beginning. The Roadster X is a bold leap, marking our entry into the motorcycling segment.” For reference, the company sold more than 400,000 electric scooters last year. It is working on more electric two-wheelers and eyeing the electric three-wheeler category as well.
