UTA Edenred adds Powerdot charging points to network

UTA Edenred is drastically expanding its European public charging network with the addition of 8000 Powerdot charging points in France, Spain, Belgium and Poland. An additional 8000 Powerdot charging points are set to follow once operational.

The Powerdot chargers in question are equipped with CCS, Type2 and CHAdeMO plugs and allow up to 200kW fast charging. They can be located via the UTA eCharge smartphone app, which doubles up as a secondary payment method along with using the UTA eCard.

According to UTA, each Powerdot station is located near public buildings such as supermarkets, restaurants, malls, hotels and other ‘highly trafficked destinations’. It brings UTA Edenred’s total public charging network up to more than 925,000 charging points across 28 countries. There’s no word yet on when the additional 8000 Powerdot charging points will be added however.

Luis Santiago Pinto, CEO of Powerdot, said: “Our mission is to provide fast and ultra-fast charging wherever people shop, dine and travel. The collaboration with UTA Edenred makes it even easier for drivers to access charging facilities while going about their daily lives. This partnership reinforces our shared goal: making electric mobility more seamless, accessible and practical for all.”

Pierre Jalady, General Manager Mobility EMEA at Edenred and CEO of UTA Edenred, added: “Our UTA eCharge® network provides customers with exceptionally dense coverage for the most efficient EV experience, be it locally or on a cross-country journey. The cooperation with Powerdot – the largest independent charging operator in Europe – significantly enhances our offering.”

Last year, Powerdot secured €100m to expand its European network. The Portuguese firm already has a robust presence in Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium, Poland and elsewhere.
