Blink Charging takes over support for Everon users
French energy group Engie, which acquired EVBox in 2017, decided in October 2024 to wind down the Dutch charging infrastructure provider due to ongoing multi-million euro losses. Production and new business have ceased, and according to statements at the time, only around 30 of the former 700 employees remained.
Until now, no solution had been communicated for customers operating their charging infrastructure with EVBox’s Everon software to continue operations or receive assistance with problems. The global US company Blink Charging has now been selected to “support Everon customers with cost-effective solutions and immediate upgrades” to ensure continued operation.
Specifically, Blink Charging wants to offer Everon users “help evaluating current infrastructure, maintaining existing systems, or upgrading ageing chargers with future-ready solutions.” The latter, of course, likely refers to switching to Blink’s own products. After registering via the Blink Charging app, Everon customers are to receive “full access to the Blink Network portal,” where charge point operators can, for example, generate reports and set sales prices.
“With the recent announcement of Everon’s withdrawal from the EV charging market, it’s natural to have questions about what this means for operations,” said Alex Calnan, Blink Charging’s Managing Director of Europe. “At Blink, we want to assure Everon customers that we are here to help them navigate this transition. As a global EV charging solutions provider, we’re well equipped to support Everon’s customer base, whether that’s with expert advice, reliable alternatives, or ongoing management of their existing charging network.”
