SolarEdge and Schaeffler to roll out 2,300 EV charge points in Europe
SolarEdge Technologies will support Schaeffler in the rollout of EV charging infrastructure across its European operations, beginning with the electrification of the parking facility at the company’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach. The installation will serve both employees and fleet vehicles.
The systems use SolarEdge’s Wevo technology, part of its ONE for C&I platform for commercial and industrial energy management. The deployment includes charging hardware, backend software, and site-level energy management tools. Access for users is managed via a dedicated mobile app.
According to SolarEdge, the integrated platform is intended to optimise charging operations and enable scalable deployment across multiple locations. The system architecture is designed to balance site loads and manage energy resources dynamically.
The companies have worked together previously on solar photovoltaic installations at Schaeffler sites. This latest agreement extends the collaboration into EV infrastructure and supports Schaeffler’s aim of deploying around 3,000 charge points in Europe by 2030. The latter announced its ambition exactly one year ago, adding that it would install a total of 5,000 charge points worldwide by 2030.
As mentioned at the time of the announcement last August, Schaeffler already launched two pilot projects in Herzogenaurach and in Schweinfurt, two cities in the German state of Bavaria. In the case of the former, the above-mentioned parking lot at Schaeffler’s headquarters was fitted with ten charging stations for employees. Each station has two charge points and delivers up to 22 kW. The location is said to see another 245 charging points installed by 2025.
“Our solar technology has powered Schaeffler rooftops with safe, reliable energy for many years. Now, our Enterprise Service Group is proud to further support Schaeffler’s energy transition by delivering EV charging software, services, and hardware”, said Naama Ohana, Chief Commercial & Industrial Division at SolarEdge. “This is a great example of how our advanced software capabilities can add value to our customers’ energy transition strategy.”
