Zero Motorcycles delivers first electric motorcycles from the X line
In Austria, the XE costs 6,660 euros and the XB 4,640 euros, while in Switzerland, the XE costs CHF 5,820 and the XB CHF 4,000. In Germany, Zero Motorcycles is asking 4,600 euros and 6,600 euros for the XB and XE, respectively.
The company presented the first two models of the X Line last autumn at the EICMA motorbike show. “Designed for riders who demand power, agility, and range beyond the pavement, the X Line introduces a new standard for electric adventure and trail riding,” wrote Zero, praising the new models. “Blending Zero’s industry-leading technology with lightweight chassis designs and easily swappable batteries, the X Line is the company’s most versatile off-road platform to date.”
The XB can be driven with an AM (or B) driving licence, which means that the maximum speed is 45 kph. The XB weighs just 63 kilograms, and Zero specifies the torque as 373 Nm, but at the rear wheel, not directly at the motor. The larger XE weighs 101 kilograms, but can travel at speeds of up to 85 kph. However, the top speed of the two off-road machines is of secondary importance anyway.
The batteries can be removed and replaced on both machines. According to Zero Motorcycles, this should offer ‘range and charging flexibility’. This is because the batteries can either be charged in the motorbike or externally with an additional charger. The 4.3 kWh battery of the XE charges completely in five hours at a 220-volt socket, the 2.4 kWh battery of the XB in 2.5 hours.
“The delivery of the first X Line bikes is a major milestone for Zero and for the future of off-road EV performance,” says CEO Sam Paschel. “It’s the start of a new chapter in how adventure riding is experienced. With the XB and XE, we’re making electric motorcycles more accessible and approachable for riders everywhere.”
