UK: DSV adds four Volvo FH Aero Electric trucks to fleet

Transport and logistics provider DSV has deployed four Volvo FH Aero Electric 4x2 tractor units for its UK operations. They will replace older diesel vehicles and are just the beginning of DSV's and Volvo Trucks' partnership.

The new electric trucks will be based at DSV’s site in Immingham. The logistics provider will take delivery of a total of 300 zero-emission trucks from Volvo Trucks by 2026. The two companies signed a corresponding agreement in August of last year.

The statement published by Volvo Trucks obviously focuses on the benefits of the Volvo FH Aero Electric 4×2 tractor units. The manufacturer highlights the truck’s “improved aerodynamics” and new electric drivetrain technology that will optimise energy efficiency. Each truck is fitted with six battery packs, which is the maximum configuration possible. The EVs will thus have a range of approximately 300 kilometres.

The powertrain includes three electric motors producing up to 666 horsepower and 2,400 Nm of continuous torque, paired with Volvo’s proven I-Shift gearbox for smooth, comfortable shifting comparable to diesel counterparts. Charging takes just 2.5 hours using a 250kW DC fast charger.

The Globetrotter cabs are designed with driver comfort in mind, featuring leather upholstery, a suspended and heated driver’s seat with dual armrests, a premium 50mm mattress protector, a 33-litre fridge and additional storage options.

As Volvo Trucks emphasises, DSV’s electric fleet benefits from a five-year Volvo Gold Contract covering all maintenance and repairs, including proactive battery monitoring, ensuring maximum uptime and operational reliability.

“Volvo gave us that confidence. Its approach to range, reliability, and infrastructure support aligns with our needs, and we know we can rely on its support network to keep us moving,” explained Keith Northen, Manager Divisional Road at DSV. “The FH Aero Electric offers the right balance of range, payload capacity and aerodynamic efficiency for our operational needs. It’s a practical solution that supports both ours and our customers’ sustainability goals while keeping our service levels high.”
