Nissan Leaf starts at $29,990 in the US

Nissan's all-new 2026 Leaf will roll to US dealerships this autumn. The electric hatchback offers up to 303 miles of range, new design features, and a starting price of $29,990 – lower than the original 2011 model.

The 2026 Leaf will be offered in several trims. At this point, the entry-grade variant will be the S+, which starts at the above-mentioned $29,990. According to Nissan, this is the lowest starting price of any new EV currently available in the United States. The company also notes that the 2011 Leaf carried a higher list price of $32,780.

The entry price will drop even further, once Nissan adds the Leaf S variant to the portfolio. However, for now, the carmaker only states that “pricing and details on the entry-grade Leaf S will be announced at a later date.”

The SV+ variant is priced at $34,230, undercutting the 2025 Leaf SV Plus by $1,960 while providing additional features and greater range. The Platinum+ grade will be available at $38,990.

Up to 303 miles on one charge

Three of the four trims, including the S+, SV+ and Platinum+, share a 75 kWh battery pack, paired with a 215 hp (160 kW) motor and offering up to 303 miles (488 km) of estimated range. The entry S variant will feature a 52 kWh battery and 174 hp (130 kW) motor, also representing an increase in performance over the outgoing base model.

The model integrates North American Charging Standard (NACS) compatibility and Plug & Charge functionality, offering customers direct access to more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America. It also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability

Measuring 4.35 x 1.81 x 1.55 metres and with a wheelbase of 2.69 metres, the five-seater is positioned between the larger Ariya (4.60 metres long) and the smaller Micra (3.97 metres). As is well known, the latter is a sister model of the electric Renault 5 and therefore differs fundamentally from the other two Nissan electric models in terms of its technical construction kit.

The exterior design introduces flush motorised door handles, a first for a Nissan production vehicle, alongside a streamlined roofline inspired by the brand’s Z sports car. A dimming panoramic roof, which can switch between opaque and transparent at the touch of a button, is described as a segment-first.

“The 2026 Nissan Leaf represents our ongoing commitment to sustainable mobility,” said Vinay Shahani, senior vice president of US Marketing and Sales at Nissan. “By combining range improvements with advanced technology and accessible pricing, we are reinforcing the role of LEAF in the EV market.”
