Liofit creates space for repairing and recycling e-bike batteries in Germany
Liofit has announced a modern repair and recycling centre for e-bike batteries at its new location. The aim is to further optimise processes in the new building and expand capacity to meet the anticipated increase in demand from across Europe. Liofit expects business to grow, particularly in light of the new EU battery regulation, which sets recycling quotas. With the new building, Liofit not only wants to double its production capacity, but also create space for research, development and new jobs.
Liofit is a family-owned company based in Kamenz, founded in 2023 by Dr. Ralf Günther. The current address is Macherstraße 146, and next year the company will move to the neighbouring Am Ochsenberg industrial park. ‘With the new building, we are creating the basis for saving even more batteries from being scrapped and thus actively conserving resources,’ says Günther. And: ‘In addition to our day-to-day business, we want to set up a pilot plant for combining repair and recycling in the coming months – this will finally allow us to showcase our latest results from the development department in production.’
Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Dirk Panter, and Thomas Horn, Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen GmbH (WFS), also attended the laying of the foundation stone. Horn emphasised: “Liofit GmbH from Kamenz is a Lusatian success story with a reach far beyond the region. From a workshop operation to one of the leading providers of repair and reconditioning services for e-bike batteries – this example shows how forward-looking, marketable ideas and entrepreneurial courage can provide impetus not only for the individual company, but also for the business location as a whole. For Saxony, the company is an important source of innovation and expertise for both the bike and recycling industries.”
Liofit recently presented its new ‘all-in-one’ diagnostic tool at the Eurobike trade fair in Frankfurt, a compact device for reading and programming e-bike batteries. It is designed to be able to read all common batteries from different manufacturers at the touch of a button and display the most important battery data on a PC. According to the Lausitz-based company, this innovation significantly simplifies initial diagnosis on site.
