Mercedes reveals production locations for EQ ramp up
Mercedes-Benz is now providing a comprehensive overview of the production sites for its electric offensive for the EQ brand. Production of the EQA at the Rastatt plant in Germany among others has already started ahead of the model’s world premiere on 20 January 2021.
Daimler expands battery production starting in Kamenz
Daimler is building its battery production capacity globally. Daimler subsidiary Accumotive has increased its production volume and will soon be able to produce more than 500,000 battery systems per year. The plant is also preparing for future electric EQ models in the compact segment.
EV battery systems able to kick-start large power plants
Transmission system operator TenneT and Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Energy have joined forces in a development partnership to see whether EV batteries could stabilise large grids. The result: Automobile battery storage systems can indeed make a significant contribution to grid stabilization and system reconstruction.

Daimler doubles workforce at battery factory a year early
Daimler’s battery subsidiary Accumotive say they will double the workforce at the Kamenz plant before the year’s end – a year ahed of schedule. 1,000 employees will then assemble battery packs for the upcoming Mercedes EQC, while Daimler is also setting up a second battery factory at the moment.
Battery firm Litarion to enter insolvency proceedings
German Litarion started “a voluntary structured insolvency process that is expected to result in the appointment of a provisional receiver/liquidator of Litarion and its property by the German court”, according to its Canadian parent company Electrovaya.
