New BMW e-scooter concept ‘removes need for a helmet’
Inspired by the BMW C1, an earlier ICE scooter which featured similar safety features, the Vision CE concept is designed for urban use and is fully electric. The main safety feature is a composite metal tube system BMW has called ‘the cage’, which is combined with a specialised seat and seatbelt system for extra safety. On top of this, the Vision CE also features a balancing system which keeps the scooter automatically upright when stationary.
BMW repeatedly states that these features “eliminate the need for a helmet.” Whether or not this would actually be the case in reality remains to be seen. However, it does lend the scooter a rather striking futuristic form; a long wheelbase, coated aluminium, and basic matt white and black colours aid this further.

As a concept vehicle, BMW has not shared any technical information on the Vision CE. However, they state that it features a fully electric drive and a number of other features for single-track mobility in city centres. The company states that it is also inspired by other electric drive bikes, including the BMW CE 04 and the CE 02, both of which provide two-wheel e-mobility for this purpose.
In a statement, the company said: “Back in 2014, BMW Motorrad became the first premium manufacturer to combine outstanding design with an electric drive in the BMW C evolution. The BMW CE 04, a design and technology masterpiece of emission-free urban mobility, was finally launched on the market in 2022. To this day, the CE 04 is the global market leader in its segment. Another highlight followed in 2024 with the BMW CE 02, which is also electric and symbolises a completely new style of mobility that is unique and extremely casual.
