Tata Power opens new Tata.ev MegaCharger hub in Mumbai
The latest Tata.ev MegaCharger hub has eight DC chargers that allow charging at up to 120 kW. All the DC chargers feature dual charging guns, meaning 16 electric vehicles can charge simultaneously. The new facility further expands Tata Power’s vast network of over 1,000 renewable energy-run charging points in Mumbai.
Tata Power and TPEML have set up the new Tata.ev MegaCharger hub in the premises of The Leela Mumbai Hotel, about two kilometres away from Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. They operate the new charging station around the clock, seven days a week, and run it entirely on renewable energy.
Given the new Tata.ev MegaCharger hub’s strategic location in proximity to the airport and inside a hotel, Tata Power and TPEML are targeting not only private car owners but also taxis, ride-hailing fleets, and logistics operators. Drivers on the busy Andheri–Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC)–South Mumbai route can also conveniently access this outlet.
“The launch of this fast-charging hub, developed in collaboration with Tata Motors, reflects our integrated approach to driving India’s green mobility transition,” Tata Power CEO and Managing Director Dr. Praveer Sinha said at the inauguration. TPEML and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (TMPVL) Managing Director Shailesh Chandra added: “The inauguration of this Tata.ev
MegaCharger – the first of many such joint installations – is a significant milestone in our mission to grow widespread, fast and reliable charging infrastructure in India.”
Tata Power and TPEML are not restricting access to Tata.ev customers but are offering them priority access and discounts of up to 25% at the new Tata.ev MegaCharger hub. Across India, the company has installed more than 5,500 public and captive EV charging points, as well as over 140,000 home chargers and 1,200+ bus charging points.
TPEML is creating a network of 500 Tata.ev MegaChargers across India by 2027, and the eight new DC chargers at The Leela Mumbai Hotel are part of this project. In addition to Tata Power, TPEML has collaborated with Charge Zone, Statiq, and Zeon for this initiative.
