Taiga unveils two new electric jet skis
Taiga Motors launched with the mission to develop and sell electric jet skis and snowmobiles. Its first and premium model, the Orca Carbon, debuted in 2019, followed in 2023 by the more affordable Orca Performance, priced from $19,490 – around $7,000 less than the Orca Carbon.
Following a relatively short model cycle, the Orca Performance now receives a successor, the Orca P2, again designed as a two-seater. The company markets it as a benchmark for jet ski performance, promising “industry leading handling and instant acceleration” on a “lighter, more refined platform for pure exhilaration on the water.” The Orca P2 starts at $20,999.
The new Orca WX3 is a three-seater built on a versatile crossover platform. Taiga describes it as “big adventures and watersports for the whole family.” Its battery allows up to two hours of water activity. A reinforced tow system supports wakeboarding, water skiing, and towing inflatables. The rear platform is wide enough to fish from the jet ski, although this is more suitable for calm waters. The Orca WX3 is priced from $23,999.
“Where the industry sees challenges in electrification, we see possibility through innovation.” said Samuel Bruneau, CEO of Taiga “With the launch of our 2026 Orca lineup and breakthrough digital features, we’re showing that electric watercraft can set a new benchmark for performance, value, and adventure.”
Both models feature a 120 kW motor, newly developed and manufactured in-house. The integrated traction unit, combining IPM motor and inverter, employs a fully revised control algorithm for precise, responsive power delivery under demanding conditions.
Taiga has not disclosed the battery capacity, but the pack includes integrated cooling plates that optimise liquid flow, improve temperature uniformity, and increase continuous output by up to 65 per cent in hot marine environments. Improvements in the battery management system reduce standby discharge, allowing the jet ski to be stored for several years without charging.
All Orca models from 2026 will support fast charging using automotive-grade CCS1 in North America and CCS2 in Europe, enabling access to widespread EV charging networks. A full charge at a fast charger will take less than 30 minutes. Taiga has also partnered with Aqua SuperPower, a fast-charging network for electric boats.
The jet skis are now capable of bidirectional charging, turning them into mobile energy sources. This allows the Orca to supply electricity to a house during an outage, charge devices at a dock, or power an off-grid cabin.
