Fastned has opened its first two locations in Spain. Announced last year, the charging parks at the Garraf Nord and Garraf Sud service stations in the province of Barcelona each offer four charging stations and eight charging points with capacities of up to 400 kW. The stations were built as part of an alliance between Fastned and Spanish road operator Autopistas “to develop high quality charging infrastructure on Autopistas highways.”

This is not the end of the installation efforts, however, as according to Fastned, it is already working on 13 additional locations in Spain. The efforts also mark a major contribution to the company’s target of opening 1,000 fast charging stations in Europe by 2030.

Fastned started its business on the Spanish charging market with an announcement in January 2024 and plans to build an HPC site near Madrid. By July of the same year, the plans had grown to encompass two HPC parks near Barcelona, which have now been completed.

“Our mission in Spain is clear, as in the other countries where we operate: to accelerate the transition to ultra-rapid, high-quality electric mobility accessible to all,” said Inma Cima, Fastned Spain Country Manager, adding, “These two charging stations represent a strong first step in our ambitious expansion plan. Our goal is to provide Spain with a solid and reliable charging network, thus leading the drive for electric vehicles and promoting a cleaner and more efficient energy future for the country.”

Michiel Langezaal, Co-founder and CEO of Fastned, further elaborated: “Our arrival in Spain marks a milestone in Fastned’s mission to drive the transition to electric mobility across Europe and shows how we’re investing in growth.”
