Cadillac launches Optiq electric SUV in Europe
The Optiq comes in two trims, Premium Luxury and Premium Sport, both equipped with a 75-kWh battery and standard dual-motor all-wheel drive. Cadillac reports peak output of 224 kW and 480 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 kph sprint in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 184 kph. Range is rated at up to 425 km (WLTP), while DC fast charging can change the state of charge from 10 to 80 per cent in about 36 minutesö
Driver-focused technologies include ‘Regen On Demand’, which allows braking via a pressure-sensitive paddle on the steering wheel, and ‘One-Pedal Driving’, which converts kinetic energy into electricity under most conditions. The vehicle also offers selectable drive modes—Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice and My Mode—for personalised handling and braking response.

Design highlights include a coupe-like silhouette, panoramic fixed-glass roof, black crystal grille with laser-etched pattern, and a rear-quarter panel window featuring acoustic laminate glass. Cadillac emphasises that the Optiq’s proportions, wheel sizing and aerodynamic features optimise efficiency while maintaining the brand’s bold styling.
On the inside, Cadillac uses PaperWood veneer made from tulip wood and recycled newspaper, paired with Tide fabric woven from recycled polyester. The Optiq features a 33-inch curved LED display with 9K resolution, said to be the largest in its segment.

“Optiq is one of the most exciting projects I’ve led,” said John Cockburn, Cadillac Chief Engineer. “Our chassis team integrated European-specific tires, suspension components, and Brembo brakes, all precisely tuned to excel on European roads. Bold, luxurious, and sustainable interior materials, paired with a refined and exciting exterior, reflect the vehicle’s precision and agility.”
The electric SUV was unveiled in May of last year. It was already confirmed at the time that the EV would be sold in Europe. One difference to the US model variant is that the latter is fitted with an 85 kWh (net) lithium-ion NCMA battery. Cadillac also announced the Optiq-V recently, the new top-tier version offers over 380 kW of power. However, so far, the carmaker has only published technical details for the US variant.
