Iveco to supply up to 4,000 low- and zero-emission buses to Greater Paris
The agreements cover three vehicle categories: the 12-metre GX 337 ELEC electric bus, and the 12- and 18-metre Urbanway Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and 12-metre Crossway CNG models. It is unclear from the statement how many buses of each category will be procured, and Iveco has not yet revealed the vehicle’s technical details.
Iveco only states that the contracts, managed by the Public Transport Procurement Organisation (CATP – Centrale d’Achat du Transport Public), form part of one of the largest bus and coach renewal programmes in the world. The vehicles will be equipped with the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to enhance safety and comfort for drivers, passengers and local residents.
“Iveco Group is honoured to collaborate with Île-de-France Mobilités, an operator who is at the forefront of the energy transition, and work together to decarbonise people transport,” said Claudio Passerini, President of the Bus Business Unit at Iveco Group. “Our electric and biomethane solutions will deliver a clean energy mix, while contributing to our priority of reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2040.”
Valérie Pécresse, President of Île-de-France Mobilités, said the new agreements represented an important step in the region’s decarbonisation strategy. “With this new order of 4,000 vehicles, we are continuing the transport revolution that I initiated in 2016. We are on the verge of achieving this tremendous project of making Île-de-France the first French region to convert all its buses and coaches to clean energy.”
