The chassis cab variant of the eDeliver 9 will feature integrated refrigeration units supplied by Thermo King and GAH. The vehicles will operate within Tesco’s grocery delivery network, providing zero-emission transport for last-mile logistics.

The Maxus eDeliver 9 is powered by a 150 kW electric motor. According to the press release, it is fitted with a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing a WLTP range of up to 219 miles. The maximum speed is 56 mph.

The vehicle has a gross weight of 4.25 tonnes and a payload capacity of up to 1.9 tonnes. The towing capacity is 2 tonnes.Rapid charging at up to 120 kW enables an 80 per cent recharge in 45 minutes, which helps reduce downtime in daily fleet operations.

“Our electric home delivery fleet is an important part of our journey to carbon neutrality across our operations. Placing this order with Harris Maxus UK will help us on our journey to operating a fully electric home delivery fleet by 2030,” said Rob Smallwood, Tesco Fleet Services Operations Manager.

Bill Laidlaw, UK Sales Director for Harris Maxus UK, added: “We are fully committed to supporting Tesco as it works towards its goal of establishing its zero-emissions fleet. Our eDeliver 9 has consistently demonstrated its capability to meet Tesco’s operational needs, delivering a productive and reliable solution since 2019.”

The latest order supports Tesco’s goal of operating a fully electric home delivery fleet by 2030. It builds on Tesco’s milestone in October 2025, when the company celebrated the deployment of its 1,000th electric vehicle. It, too, was a Maxus vehicle that is used in Cardiff, Wales.

If this vehicle was successful for Tesco since 2019, why is it taking so long to replace the current diesel vans? Surely it needn't take until 2030?
