UCLS adds 33 Renault E-Tech Masters for zero-emission delivery contract
Logistics operator UCLS has taken delivery of 33 Renault Trucks E-Tech Master L3 H2 Panel Vans, supplied by Allports Group, to service a major new home delivery contract requiring zero-emission operations. The multimillion-pound order will support daily ‘final mile’ routes across Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.
UCLS currently runs around 700 final-mile routes each day and aims to integrate the new electric vans without changes to route density or payload expectations.
As Renault Trucks specifies, the latest-generation E-Tech Master uses an 87 kW battery with a WLTP range of more than 285 miles and rapid charging capability from 15 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes. UCLS expects the vans to complete full shifts on a single charge, supported by overnight depot charging. The model’s payload capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes and 13.2 m³ of loading volume meets UCLS’s operational requirements, including the ability to handle Euro pallets through the side door.
Managing Director Ricky Sharma said: “We want to be ahead of the market. We’re brave, we’re learning, and we’re always exploring more opportunities for electric vehicles. This investment is just the beginning of our decarbonisation journey.” He added: “We need about 1.1 tonnes of payload, and up to 230 miles on a single charge. The new version of the E-Tech Master can do just that.”
“For light commercial vehicles like the Renault Trucks E-Tech Master, operators no longer have to compromise between payload, efficiency and range – it delivers across all three in spades,” Graeme Wilson, Group Sales Director at Allports Group, noted.
