Switzerland: PostAuto to procure up to 115 electric buses from Solaris this year

Swiss transport operator PostAuto and Solaris have signed a framework agreement for the delivery of up to 115 electric buses. PostAuto has already placed a firm order for 33 e-buses under this framework agreement.

Solaris has been selected in the tender process for both 12-metre and 18-metre buses. Under the agreement, PostAuto will order vehicles scheduled for delivery to various cities in Switzerland in 2026 and 2027. Initially, 33 battery-electric buses have already been firmly ordered—specifically, 23 solo buses of the Urbino 12 electric type and ten articulated buses of the Urbino 18 electric type. These will be integrated into the fleets of a dozen Swiss cities, as Solaris states.

The contract allows PostAuto to call up the maximum order quantity of 115 electric buses by the end of 2026. This means any further orders will follow in quick succession if they are placed.

Solaris, meanwhile, has been active in Switzerland since 2002 and has delivered nearly 700 buses to the market to date, including almost 250 vehicles for PostAuto.
