BMW hands over first iX3 models to customers ahead of schedule
The new BMW iX3 was unveiled in September, and series production began in October at BMW’s new plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The battery-electric mid-size SUV is a cornerstone of BMW’s electric transformation, as the iX3 is the first model based on the Neue Klasse architecture.
At an exclusive event held at BMW World in Munich ahead of the official market launch, the manufacturer handed over the first vehicles to customers. Among the recipients were celebrities such as actors Kostja Ullmann and Christoph Maria Herbst, as well as model Lena Gercke, who has been a BMW brand ambassador for several years.
As previously reported, the iX3 is already proving highly popular with customers, even though only ‘blind orders’ without test drives have been possible so far. At the Munich event, BMW’s Sales Director, Jochen Goller, stated: “Customer interest in the BMW iX3 has been overwhelming from the start. Since its world premiere at the IAA in September 2025, every third battery-electric BMW vehicle ordered in Europe has been an iX3. That is why we are accelerating the production ramp-up and introducing a second shift much earlier than planned.”

The pan-European market launch for the BMW iX3 is scheduled for 7 March. From this date, the vehicles will be available at BMW dealerships for viewing, test drives, and orders. The price list starts at €68,900 for the BMW iX3 50 xDrive with all-wheel drive. Additional variants are expected to follow, with speculation about an entry-level model priced around €60,000.
The BMW iX3 and the Neue Klasse architecture represent a technological leap for BMW’s electromobility strategy. Depending on the configuration, the electric SUV delivers up to 805 km WLTP range from a 108 kWh battery pack, combined with 800-volt technology and up to 400 kW DC fast charging (0–80% in approximately 21 minutes). The iX3 supports bidirectional charging (V2H/V2G/V2L) and features a new digital architecture with four ‘Superbrain’ high-performance computers. Additionally, the Heart of Joy’ drivetrain and driving dynamics control system enable exceptionally high dynamics and precision in driving behaviour.
