Changan Automobile launches Deepal S05 electric SUV in the UK
Both variants feature a 68.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The RWD model uses a 200 kW synchronous motor delivering 290 Nm of torque and accelerates from 0–62 mph in 7.5 seconds. The AWD version adds an asynchronous front motor, raising system output to 320 kW and 502 Nm, and cutting the 0–62 mph time to 5.5 seconds. Top speed is limited to 112 mph for both variants.
WLTP range is rated at up to 303 miles for the RWD and 278 miles for the AWD. The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 200 kW, with a 30 to 80 per cent charge achievable in 15 minutes. AC charging is supported at up to 11 kW. A vehicle-to-load (V2L) function enables up to 6 kW of external power supply.
The Deepal S05 offers a 492-litre rear boot and a 159-litre front trunk, expanding to 1,250 litres with the rear seats folded. The vehicle is equipped with 17 driver assistance systems enabling Level 2 functionality, supported by cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors, including a 540-degree surround-view system.
This is the carmaker’s second model to launch in the UK. The Deepal S07 launched there in September 2025 at a starting price of £39,990.
The Deepal S05 is styled by Changan’s European design centre in Turin and engineered with input from its UK R&D facility in Birmingham. Production takes place in Thailand at a plant specialising in right-hand drive vehicles. The model carries a seven-year, 100,000-mile vehicle warranty and an eight-year, 124,000-mile battery warranty.
