Paua partners with UK truck dealers on 16 new charging sites
The move will bring dealer-operated commercial charging infrastructure into Paua’s Share platform, enabling third-party fleets to utilise depot-based charging at Motus and Ford & Slater sites for rigid and articulated electric HGVs. The sites are open to vehicles of any brand, reflecting a growing shift towards interoperable infrastructure as commercial fleets continue to struggle with access to suitable charging.
By opening private depots to external users, operators like Motus and Ford & Slater can increase utilisation of installed assets while giving fleets greater access to more reliable charging locations. In a press release, Paua states that installation and integration have been delivered through a multi-partner approach; Motus worked with Envevo and Ford & Slater with EO for charger deployment, all of which has then been integrated into Paua’s payment and access platform.
It marks an expansion of the role of established truck dealers in driving the transition to electric freight in the UK. Combined, Motus and Ford&Slater have provided around 20 per cent of all electric trucks in the UK’s Zero Emission HGV and Infrastructure Demonstrator (ZEHID) scheme.
Niall Riddell, CEO and Co-Founder of Paua, said: “Motus and Ford & Slater joining Paua Share is a strong example of the industry working together to accelerate electric truck adoption. Depot charging is a critical part of the ecosystem. By opening trusted depot infrastructure to other fleets, we can rapidly extend the usable charging network for electric trucks across the UK.”
