Green SM to deploy more than 18,000 VinFast EVs across the Philippines

Green SM has partnered with 75 transport companies and cooperatives in the Philippines for the latest initiative. The local partners operate in the Metro Manila region and across various cities and provinces across the country, including Bacolod, Baguio, Batangas, Cagayan de Oro, Cavite, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Ozamiz and Pampanga.

These markets are seeing accelerating adoption of cleaner vehicles and strong demand for mobility services. Green SM will supply the 18,497 VinFast EVs to its local partners under different agreements, some with direct investment and some on long-term lease. The company will use a mix of the VF 5/Herio Green and Limo Green models for this deal.

The VF 5 and the Herio Green are private and commercial versions of the same model, a small SUV measuring 3.97 m in length, 1,723 mm in width and 1.58 m in height, with a 2.51 m wheelbase. Both feature a single motor producing 100 kW and 135 Nm of torque, mounted on the front axle. A 37.23 kWh LFP battery pack powers this motor and delivers a range of 326 kilometres according to the NEDC.

The Limo Green is a mid-size MPV that VinFast introduced for commercial purposes, although the company later rolled out a version for private sales called the VF MPV 7. The electric people mover is 4,740 mm long, 1.87 m wide and 1.73 m tall, has a 2.84 m wheelbase and accommodates seven people. It features a single, front-mounted motor that generates 150 kW and 280 Nm of torque and uses a 60.13 kWh LFP battery pack that delivers an NEDC range of 450 kilometres.

Green SM expects the partners to place their VinFast EV orders and commence operations in phases throughout the year. Commenting on the new initiative, Green SM CEO Nguyen Van Thanh said: “Through its platform and partnership approach, Green SM aims to advance electric mobility in a practical and sustainable way while maintaining unified service standards across the ecosystem.”

Hope to see these cars moving around Tagaytay City areas for ride services instead of just one red taxi service.

Just hope they build the needed ev charging infrastructure at the same time. This has been delaying adoption of evs for quite a time now.
