InstaVolt acquires GeniePoint
The acquisition covers charging locations across local authority car parks, motorway service areas, retail destinations and hospitality venues. InstaVolt said the sites will be rebranded and upgraded over the next 12 months.
Prior to the transaction, InstaVolt operated or had under construction more than 4,000 chargers across over 950 locations, such as the 30-charger superhub on Wiltshire’s A303. Following completion ff the deal, the company says its network will grow to more than 4,250 chargers across approximately 1,200 locations nationwide.
The acquired estate will undergo a refurbishment programme that includes enhanced grid connections, battery energy storage systems, improved signage and the installation of BYD Flash Charging. InstaVolt also plans to increase the number of chargers at the locations from more than 260 to over 400.
According to the company, the upgraded sites will offer the same features as its existing network, including contactless payment and a reported uptime of more than 99 per cent.
“This transaction represents a major milestone for InstaVolt and for the UK EV charging industry,” said Delvin Lane, Chief Executive Officer of InstaVolt. “By surpassing 1,200 locations, we become the first charge point operator in the UK to operate more than 1,000 sites nationwide […] It is a clear statement of our commitment to building the public charging network the country needs as it makes the switch to electric.”
