Monta expands Europe roaming access with Plugsurfing Charging Network
The integration of Plugsurfing’s charging points into Monta is being facilitated via Roam OCPI, which eliminates the need for operators to sign a separate contract or perform an additional integration – granting immediate access to the Plugsurfing charging network. According to the Danish company, this increases its coverage of charging stations across Europe to 80 per cent as a result.
Monta is a leading player in the B2B charging software sector and describes itself as the “leading EV charging platform for businesses, supporting more than 40 emobility service providers across the continent.” Based in Copenhagen, the company primarily provides charging software solutions, including a fully equipped invoicing and payment platform, as well as tools for managing and controlling private charging stations. Currently, it supports over 600 hardware models.
At the same time, providers using Monta can grant their customers access to Monta’s roaming network. The partnership with Plugsurfing significantly expands this network: from around 600,000 to over 1.1 million active charging points across 26 European countries. Plugsurfing handles operational tasks in the background, including operator contracts, data quality, invoicing, and reconciliation.
For Monta customers, the process remains straightforward: “They do not contract with Plugsurfing directly, neither complete a separate technical integration or manage an additional partner relationship,” Monta explains. All commercial processes continue to be handled by the Danes, who aim to ensure an “approach of managing roaming centrally for its operators, while giving them broader network access and competitive tariffs through one platform.”
“Roaming connections like this are what make charging simpler at scale. By connecting Plugsurfing’s European network to Monta’s infrastructure, operators can extend their coverage and improve the driver experience without taking on the operational work behind it. Charging should just work for drivers, and stay simple for the businesses serving them,” emphasises Tom Rowlands, Managing Director of Global EV Solutions at Plugsurfing’s parent company, Corpay.
