Nissan and EDF Energy explore 2nd life use of batteries

Nissan teams up with EDF Energy, the UK-based subsidiary of French utility EDF, to explore secondary use of old EV batteries. The first joint project will focus on creating a business model to reuse recycled batteries of the Nissan Leaf into commercial storage systems.

Hyundai forges partnership for 2nd life batteries

Hyundai has found a user for their old electric car batteries. Finland’s Wärtsilä will reuse batteries from Hyundai EVs in their stationery energy storage facilities and wants to market their solution in 177 countries.

Daimler exits market for home batteries

With batteries in high demand Daimler decided it won’t sell any batteries to home owners any longer as they deem them to be technologically too advanced (or too precious) for residential use. The stationery storage packs were introduced three years ago via Daimler’s Accumotive.
