ABB to use AFC Energy’s off-grid DC charging solution
ABB is entering into a strategic partnership with UK-based AFC Energy to develop a new generation of DC fast-charging solutions for locations with limited access to the grid. The Swiss Group will build on AFC’s system that uses fuel cells and battery backup to deliver high-power charges at remote sites.

Formula E founder’s Alejandro Agag latest adventure, the Extreme E racing series for bespoke e-SUVs racing the world’s remotest corners, found a partner in Britain’s AFC Energy. Their off-grid fuel cell system for green power generation uses green hydrogen to create electricity.

The British company AFC Energy has demonstrated a network-independent charging solution for electric vehicles under the name CH2ARGE. A hydrogen fuel cell system provides energy to charge a connected battery that lastly delivers the charge for the electric car.
