SkyDrive presents electric VTOL SD-05
The Japanese company SkyDrive shows the design of its electric aerial taxi SD-05, which is currently under development and is to be used at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka. The SD-05 is a two-seater, electrically powered air taxi designed for flights up to about ten kilometres.
Suzuki & SkyDrive partner on eVTOL development
Japanese automakers Suzuki and SkyDrive have announced a partnership for the commercialization of flying cars. SkyDrive is a Japanese manufacturer of flying cars and is currently developing a compact, two-seating electric-powered flying car with plans for full-scale production.
Lilium postpones market launch until 2025
The Bavarian electric aerial taxi start-up Lilium has postponed its planned market launch by one year. Instead of 2024, the electric vertical take-off is now expected to be approved in 2025 and thus begin commercial operation.

Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled its new company called Supernal. The establishment of the subsidiary is related to Hyundai’s increased involvement in its Urban Air Mobility business, which aims to advance the group’s vision of future mobility in urban environments.
Volocopter gets European manufacturer’s license
The eVTOL start-up Volocopter has received the manufacturer’s licence from the European Aviation Safety Agency EASA. This was made possible by the partial takeover of Volocopter’s long-standing production partner DG Flugzeugbau, which already had this certification.
Vertical Aerospace announces 1,000 air taxi orders
The British eVTOL start-up Vertical Aerospace announces pre-orders for a total of 1,000 of its electric aerial taxis. In this context, the company also announces that it is seeking an IPO via SPAC and has received commitments from Microsoft, American Airlines, Avolon, Honeywell and Rolls-Royce.
Volocopter to launch air taxi service in Singapore
Volocopter plans to launch its first commercial electric flight cab service in Singapore within the next three years, likely initially on a tourist route along the southern coast. In preparation for the upcoming launch, the German company has established Volocopter Asia Holding.
Uber to test air taxis in Paris
The ride-share company Uber is working on the development of electric air taxis and announced their first research and development center outside of the USA, which will open in Paris in Fall this year.
