SKC to build copper foil factory in Poland
SKC, a chemical company belonging to the South Korean conglomerate SK Group, has started building a factory in Poland for copper foils for use in electric vehicle batteries. Another plant in North America is being planned.
VWGC commissions battery recycling pilot plant
VW’s Group Components division has commissioned a pilot plant for recycling batteries in Salzgitter. With the plant, which is to be scalable to higher capacities, Volkswagen wants to recover valuable raw materials and use them in new batteries.
Honda & SNAM expand battery recycling partnership
Honda is expanding its partnership in Europe with the French recycling specialist SNAM. In future, SNAM will collect batteries from Honda dealers and authorised recycling facilities in 22 countries and test them for their suitability for recycling and further processing.

Audi and Umicore are developing a closed loop for the recycling of high voltage batteries from electrified vehicles, which can be reused again and again. Particularly valuable materials, including cobalt, nickel and copper, will be stored in a resource bank.
