GM is planning billions in EV investment & battery production
General Motors wants to increase its investments in electric and automated driving vehicles again by 2025, from the last planned 27 billion to 35 billion US dollars, according to a media report. Meanwhile, GM offshoot Cruise has presented the first nearly 100 pre-production models of its Cruise Origin.

GM confirms ‘Factory Zero’ & GMC Hummer debut
General Motors confirms plans to convert its core production site at Detroit-Hamtramck into an all-electric vehicle assembly plant. The facility will run as Factory Zero to designate GM’s zero-emissions, zero-congestion, and zero crashes future.

GM mostly sticks to electrification timetable
Despite the crisis, General Motors is sticking to the timetable for most of its electric offensive. By the middle of this decade, GM has also reaffirmed its goal of achieving annual sales of one million electric cars in the two largest markets, North America and China.

General Motors reveal new battery system and platform
At an “EV Day” for investors, General Motors CEO Mary Barra presented an overview of the Group’s ambitious electric strategy. At the heart of the strategy is the third-generation new platform involving a modular battery system called Ultium. The platform should base the spectrum of electric vehicles from hatchbacks to pickups, SUVs and commercial vehicles.

GM to begin upgrading Detroit factory in March
Preparations for the conversion of the Detroit-Hamtramck production facility into a pure electric car plant, announced by General Motors at the end of January, will begin in March. There are also reports of concrete subsidies for the planned GM battery factory in Ohio.

General Motors is converting Detroit factory to EV plant
General Motors is turning its Detroit-Hamtramck production facility into a dedicated electric vehicle plant. As the US carmaker now officially announces, it plans to invest $2.2 billion in the plant to produce a range of electrified models there.
